The first two FIBA 3x3 World Tour events of 2014 are in the books with the exciting weekend events held recently in Manila and Beijing. In Manila, fan-favorite Manila West upset Doha, Qatar’s team consisting of two of the four players who had recently won the Men’s 3x3 World Championships in Moscow in early June. Hosted indoors in the SM Megamall in Pasig City, Metro Manila, mall shoppers lined the 5 story atrium for hours to watch these exciting matches.
At Hi-Park basketball complex in western Beijing, local team Wukesong defeated a scrappy Nagoya, Japan squad to advance to the World Tour Final to be held in Tokyo/Sendai in early October. In 3x3 World Tour competition, both the winning team and runner-up qualify for the Final.
