POSTED ON 9/7/10 | The Manifest Foundation will give local at-risk youth the chance of a lifetime April 14 when it hosts “Hoops & Hugs,” a mini basketball camp with former Chicago Bulls coach Michael Brown and the NBA’s first female head coach, Nancy Lieberman. Almost 30 children and teens who are on Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada’s waiting list and from The Embracing Project will learn from and be mentored by two of basketball’s greats during the two-hour event.
“Hoops & Hugs” participants will play on a specially constructed DreamCourt, a Manifest Foundation/Nancy Lieberman Foundation basketball court provided by Connor Sport Court International. Afterward, equipment from the event will be donated to a local organization that desperately needs it.
The Manifest Foundation is leading the way to unite nonprofits with shared goals to work to create a bigger impact on their communities and world. The Manifest Foundation will explain the need for nonprofits to work together to reach their shared goals during a short press conference. Other youth advocates in attendance will include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada Vice President of Program Services Molly Latham, Manifest Foundation Executive Director Spryte Loriano, The Embracing Project Co-Founder and former NBA coach Michael Brown, Youth Action International Founder and Executive Director Kimmie Weeks, Nancy Lieberman Foundation Founder Nancy Lieberman, and Hug It Forward Co-Founder Zach Balle.
