Sport Court® has completed an unprecedented summer as the Official 3 x 3 playing surface for prestigious 3 x 3 basketball events that have spanned the globe including the FIBA 3 x 3 World Tour and FIBA World Championship, the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China and the Gus Macker Tour.
As a preferred equipment partner to FIBA, Gus Macker and the YOG, Sport Court provided modular event surfaces and custom installation that allowed the rapidly growing 3 x 3 format to be played at multiple venues on high quality, safe surfaces.
“Sport Court’s goal is to make the safest and best modular outdoor 3 x 3 basketball courts in the world and help change this rapidly growing sport from a game largely played on concrete and asphalt – surfaces that are made from construction materials and not intended as sports surfaces – to a sport played on modular surfaces that can be both beautiful and safe for the competing athletes,” said Andrew Gettig, Sport Court vice president international.
Sport Court has been a FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Partner since 1994 and is the Official Technical Supplier of FIBA from 2013 to 2016.
“Connor Sport Court International has been our first major partner for 3x3 basketball since back in April 2012. It is great to work with such an experienced and innovative company such as Sport Court, who provides us with a new surface designed to boost the performances of our best 3x3 basketball players in a safe environment in the most iconic urban landscapes in the world,” said Patrick Baumann, FIBA Secretary General and IOC member.
