POSTED ON 12/5/09 | Sport Court® and the North America, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) today signed a long-term contract naming Sport Court the official playing surface for the organization. The joint announcement was made by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA, and Ron Cerny, President of Connor Sport Court International, the Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of Sport Court playing surfaces.
“After reviewing many different sport surface options, Sport Court was selected because of its superior performance and safety characteristics," said Hoffiz. “When athletes are worried about their safety they are not diving for the ball and playing to the best of their ability”.
“Sport Court’s indoor and outdoor suspended modular surfaces are extremely cost effective. The surface provides world-class performance and reduces shock so there’s less wear and tear on joints and limbs,” Hoffiz added.
“We are excited that NORCECA has chosen Sport Court, and we look forward to working together in the continued development and promotion of volleyball in the region,” said Cerny. “For many NORCECA countries, indoor climate-controlled gyms don’t exist, and sports like volleyball are outdoor sports. Sport Court surfaces transform concrete or asphalt slabs into an outstanding volleyball facility. It helps keep the athletes safe and it helps the sport develop and grow,” Cerny added.
Sport Court outdoor courts are manufactured with the highest performance standards for UV stability in the industry. As a result, Sport Court surfaces are not damaged by tropic heat or sunlight nor are they affected by the humidity and rainy conditions prevalent in many NORCECA countries, said Cerny.
He added that for most of the past 20 years Sport Court has been the official surface of both USA Volleyball® and the Men’s and Women’s NCAA® Volleyball Championships, with USA national team events, the Olympic Juniors and the NCAA Finals being played on Sport Court surfaces. Sport Court playing surfaces are the only athletic courts approved for outdoor competition by NORCECA, a member of the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB). Sport Court is also the only court approved for outdoor competition by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the International Handball Federation.
