After the first edition of the Doha GOALS Forum in 2012, the Doha GOALS community saw a critical need for spaces where youth could have access to sports and recreation facilities. Thus, the Doha GOALS Sport Fields Initiative was born.
The Doha GOALS Foundation, developed a partnership with Sport Court® and local authorities to build multi-sport courts in developing regions of the world. To show that by delivering a safe play space and organized sport programing, they could change a community. Since the launch of the partnership, Sport Court has built two Sport Court® Power Game™ multipurpose courts; one in Port Gentil, Gabon and another in Nablus, West Bank, Palestine.
As a part of the program, the Doha GOALS Sport Fields Initiative will work with NGOs and institutions in each country to maintain the fields and create community programs to benefit the local youth. The third installation of the Doha GOALS Sport Fields Initiative is expected in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan later this year.
These platforms exemplify the power of the Doha GOALS Forum's mission to continue to support cross-border initiatives that use sport as a tool for social progress and economic development and showcase how our Courts for Communities™ program is impacting children around the world.
