POSTED ON 12/6/09 | The 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship will be played at the St. Pete Times Forum on Dec. 17 and 19, the tournament’s 17th year of play on official surfaces provided by Sport Court®.
Sport Court volleyball flooring will also be installed at separate sites for regional playoffs on Dec. 11 and 12 at the University of Florida, Gainesville; University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; Stanford University, Palo Alta, California, and the University of Nebraska, Omaha.
More than 40,000 square feet of Sport Court flooring will be used by the NCAA for the championships and the regionals. Sport Court is manufactured by Connor Sport Court International of Salt Lake City.
“Sport Court provides us with volleyball surfacing that meets our need for flexibility in conducting our tournaments. With safety as well as performance our primary considerations, Sport Court has been our choice of playing surfaces since 1993," said Erika Austin, Assistant Director of NCAA Corporate Alliances of the NCAA.
Hosts for the championships will be the University of South Florida, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and Tampa Bay and Company.
Sport Court is providing custom made Response™ high-performance flooring for the championship and the regional locations.
In what has become a long-standing tradition, at the conclusion of the championship, each member of the championship team will receive a piece of the competition floor as commemoration of their team’s victory. In many ways, it is a tradition similar to the net-cutting ceremony at the end of the basketball championships.
“Superior performance and player safety are two of the primary reasons Sport Court continues to be the choice of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of CSCI. “Sport Court’s continuous development, ongoing research and safety testing has resulted in a unique playing surface that also provides easy installation and customized, vibrant colors.”
In addition, since 2005, Connor Sport Court has also been the exclusive provider of basketball courts for the NCAA® Final Four™.
